Who qualifies for SANZAF bursary

The SANZAF bursary is open to all students and caters for all fields of study. However, you must meet the following criteria to qualify for the bursary:

  1. You must be a South African citizen or a foreign national with a study permit
  2. You must reside in the province for which you are applying
  3. You must be from a previously disadvantaged background
  4. You must have applied for NSFAS before applying for this bursary
  5. You must be studying or intend on studying at a recognized University, University of Technology, or Technikon in South Africa
  6. You must have proven financial need. Financially and otherwise, you must fall under any of the categories listed below. See the explanation here.
    • The Poor
    • The Needy
    • The Administrators of Zakah
    • The Reverts
    • Those in Debt
    • Those in Bondage
    • Those (striving) in the path of Allah
    • The Wayfarer
  7. You must fall into one of these 3 categories:
    • currently in Matric
    • currently studying at a tertiary institution and sponsored by a family member or yourself last year
    • currently studying at a tertiary institution and sponsored by SANZAF last year
