Can I deposit money in my EPF account?

Individuals are not allowed to deposit money into Provident Fund. You need to do it by expressing interest to increase your share from existing monthly salary to be put into provident fund. The money will deducted from your monthly salary & your company will credit it. You cannot be changing the “your monthly deduction” frequently. It has to be consistent.

According to EPFO rules, ex-employees cannot contribute to their EPF account, since any contribution by the member must be matched with the employer’s share of contribution. Hence ex-employees are not permitted to contribute. They may consider options like the Public Provident Fund (PPF) or NPS instead.
