Level 3 Advanced Courses
A Levels
Students studying four A Levels will be expected to have a minimum of six GCSEs at grade 7, 8 or 9 including English Language and Mathematics at grade 6 or above.
Students studying three A Levels will be expected to have a minimum of two GCSEs at grade 6 and three GCSEs at grade 5/4 including English Language and Mathematics at grade 5/4 or above. Or eight GCSEs at a minimum of grade 5.
Single/Double Vocational A Levels
These may be taken alongside A Level courses and are subject to the same entry criteria.
Triple Vocational A Levels
Students will be expected to have five GCSEs at grade 9-4, or a Merit in a relevant vocational Level 2 Diploma (or equivalent). In addition, students will need a grade 4 in GCSE English Language and a minimum grade 3 in Mathematics.
Additional Course Requirements (Additions to the standard entry requirements)
A Level Computer Science
Students will be expected to have a minimum GCSE at grade 6 in Mathematics or grade 5 in Computer Science.
A Level Mathematics
Students will be expected to have four GCSEs at grade 6 including Mathematics and grade 5 or above in English Language.
A Level Mathematics – Further
Students will be expected to have a minimum of three GCSEs at grade 6, with grade 8 or 9 in Mathematics and grade 5 or above in English Language. To study Further Mathematics, students must also study A Level Mathematics.
A Level Psychology
Students will be expected to have a minimum GCSE grade 6 in Mathematics or a Science subject.
A Level Science Courses
Students intending to study single Science will be expected to have a minimum GCSE grade 6 in that subject and a further supporting Science subject or a 6,6 in Combined Science and grade 6 in Mathematics.
Vocational Science Courses
Students intending to study Applied Science will be expected to have a minimum of GCSE grade 5 in English Language or Mathematics and two grade 5s in GCSE Science or Combined Science.
The Honours Programme
Students will be expected to have a minimum of six GCSEs at grade 7, 8 or 9, as well as grade 6 in English Language and Mathematics.
Science Academy
(Two or more Sciences at A Level) Students will be expected to have five GCSEs at grade 7, 8 or 9 including two Science subjects and Mathematics and have taken three separate Sciences at school.
Art Subjects
Students are normally expected to have at least GCSE grade 4 in Art & Design, those who have not studied this at GCSE will be asked to bring samples of their work so that the best advice can be offered.
Performing Arts
Students wishing to study Performing Arts subjects will be invited to attend an audition, as well as achieving the minimum entry requirements.
Sports Academies
Students wishing to apply for the Cricket or Football Sports Academy programmes should indicate this on the application form and will be required to submit suitable references from relevant sports teachers at school or team coaches, as well as successfully completing a sports trial.
