The Sage Bursary is open to South African citizens who meet certain academic and other requirements set by the bursury provider. While the these criteria may change over time, below are the current qualifications that applicants need to meet to be considered for the Sage Bursary:
Students who meet the following criteria can qualify:
- Applicants must be South African Citizens;
- Previously disadvantaged Individuals (PDI);
- Applicants must have applied for, and been admitted into, a public higher education institution;
The accepted fields of study include the following:
- IT
- Accounting
- Computer Sciences; with exception for
- Students with disabilities, who can study in any field
Current pass rate should be 65% or 75% and above depending on the applicants level of education:
- Current Matric students must have achieved a minimum result of 75% for Mathematics and Physical Science
- Current university students must have consistently achieved a minimum overall average of 65%
Also, one’s family income should be from R350 000 to R500 000 per annum. Students who are below this bracket and meet the criteria but have not been granted a DHET bursary through NSFAS will be considered for the Sage bursary
