It is quite easy to apply for the Portia M Bursary. The following documents must accompany the application form.
- Final matric results
- Acceptance letter from the University or proof of registration
- Student number
- Fees statement (if you are a current University student)

Confirmation letter from Department of Social Services (this should be signed and stamped) – Pensioners, child support, orphans grant

Pay slip / Employment letter /3 months Bank statement

Certified affidavit (to support proof of income for self-employed parents/ guardians to be attached to proof of income)
Once you have prepared the above-mentioned documents, follow the application procedure below.
- Eligibility: Ensure you meet the eligibility criteria. This includes being South African, female student with excellent grades, being in financial need and also intending to pursue a qualifying course:
- Complete your application form correctly with the relevant information. This may include the following to mention a few:
- Full name and Surname of applicant
- Physical address
- Contact details (all applications must have a cell number and next of kin contact details)
- Email address (all applications must have active email address)
- Degree Name
- Duration of the degree
- High School Name
- Attach relevant documents and submit: Attached the prescribed documents to your application and submit by email to pmfoundation@portiamss.com
- Wait for the Decision: Bursary selection processes can take some time, so be patient. If you are shortlisted, you might be called for an interview or further assessments.
- Acceptance and Disbursement: If you are selected, you will be notified of the bursary award, and the disbursement process will be initiated
