It is quite easy to apply for the Gibela Bursary. Students who meet the minimum eligibility criteria, can apply by submitting copies of the following supporting documentation:
- South African ID document (certified copy)
- Full academic record (certified copies)
- Short Curriculum Vitae
- Parents or guardians proof of income (latest payslips if employed/ affidavit if unemployed or informally employed/ proof of grant or pension if applicable) (certified copy)
- TVET students: proof of acceptance for admission from a TVET institution in South Africa (on institutions letterhead)
- University and University of Technology students: proof of acceptance from a University or University of Technology in South Africa (on letterhead)
To apply for the Gibela Bursary, follow the steps below:
- Prepare the documents discussed above
- You may choose to submit your application via email or fax: gibelabursaries@communityrail.co.za or 0862462666
- In the subject line of your application, use ‘Gibela Bursary (year) TVET’ OR University depending on which your are or intend to attend. E.g. ‘Gibela Bursary 2023 TVET’ OR ‘Gibela Bursary 2023 University’.
- Ensure you send your application with all the relevant documentation as mentioned earlier. Note that, missing out on any of the required documents will lead to cancellation of your application.
- Wait for the Decision: Bursary selection processes can take some time, so be patient. If you are shortlisted, you might be called for an interview or further assessments.
- Acceptance and Disbursement: If you are selected, you will be notified of the bursary award, and the disbursement process will be initiated
Note: there is no application form to be completed for this bursary application – students need only submit the list of above documents to apply.
