Aurecon was formed as a result of the merger between three well-established engineering consultancies in South Africa in 2009. These three companies were:
- Africon: Founded in 1968, Africon was a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy based in South Africa that provided engineering, management, and consulting services to clients across Africa.
- Connell Wagner: Founded in Australia in 1951, Connell Wagner was an engineering consultancy that provided a wide range of engineering, management, and consulting services to clients in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, and the Middle East.
- Ninham Shand: Founded in South Africa in 1904, Ninham Shand was a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy that provided a range of engineering, management, and consulting services to clients across Africa and the Middle East.
The merger between these three companies resulted in the formation of Aurecon, which is a global engineering and infrastructure advisory company headquartered in Melbourne, Australia. Today, Aurecon has over 5,500 employees and operates in more than 25 countries around the world, providing a range of engineering, management, and advisory services to clients in various industries.
