Avenue English offers a wide variety of English-rich courses from beginner to advanced levels and at the convenience of students. The following are some of the courses they offer:
- General English.

These are discussed below.
General English. The General English course focuses on fluency and highlights the practical understanding of English through the four main skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking. The course books that are used encourage interactive participation so that the student builds confidence in a relaxed environment.
General English part-time. For students who cannot attend classes everyday, the General English part-time course is scheduled 3 times per week in consideration to students’ best available times to obtain the maximum benefit for their particular English language goals. This course is not for Beginner or Elementary level as a complete immersion at these levels is required to achieve a certain fluency to be able to pursue a part-time course
Private Lessons (Online / face-to-face). The private course offers convenience to learners by allowing them choose their most convenient time to study from 7.00 a.m or 6.00 p.m. This is an intensive course focusing on the individuals unique English language requirements. Students taking this course have the opportunity to build self-confidence and achieve their personal learning outcomes. It also focuses on those specific areas that are challenging to the learner – Business writing / presentation skills / general fluency etc.
General English Plus. The GE Plus course offers a double-dose of knowledge to learners by taking the General English course in the morning followed by a private lesson from 1.30 – 2.30 p.m. This course is highly recommended for the student who has limited time to study English as the course can be booked for a minimum of one week. The private lesson from 1.30 – 2.30 p.m daily can be used to focus on those areas of the English language that the student finds particularly challenging e.g. pronunciation / fluency / vocabulary enhancement or it can be used for a specific purpose, e.g. Business English / Exam preparation.
Business English. Our Business English course is for students who are currently at a strong Intermediate level or higher. The focus is on essential vocabulary and useful phrases and expressions for the workplace. Our course includes a grammar component for you to feel confident in all business communications. The course includes, but is not confined to:
- Negotiating
- Business meetings
- Email etiquette and structure
- Formality
- Presentations / report writing
- Mastering your grammar and tenses
English Improvement. The English Improvement course is specifically for South Africans who have English as a second or third language. These classes assist students with accuracy in their English language skills, as well as build confidence in order to communicate effectively. This part-time course is held over 8 Saturdays from 9.00 – 12.30 p.m. at a total of 30 hours and we offer all levels from Elementary to Advanced. There are maximum of 10 students per level.
IELTS Preparation. The Cambridge International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is an exam that tests the candidate’s English language ability. You need to indicate whether you are doing the Academic or the General exam and the band scores that you require. Avenue English schedules your private lessons with our IELTS examiners at times that are convenient for the students. These lessons can be done online or at Avenue English.
