UIF Online Application Guide

How to Apply Online

  1. Go to the official UIF portal: https://uifecc.labour.gov.za/viper/
  2. Click 'Register' or 'Login' to access your UIF profile.
  3. Enter your ID number and personal details.
  4. Complete employment history and confirm your employer details.
  5. Upload required documents such as UI-19 and ID copy.
  6. Select benefit type: Unemployment, Maternity, Illness, Adoption, or Reduced Work Time.
  7. Submit your application and wait for SMS confirmation.

Requirements

  • Valid South African ID number
  • You must have contributed to UIF while employed
  • Must be unemployed, on maternity leave, sick leave, or reduced work hours
  • Bank account in your name for payments
  • Mobile number for communication

Documents Needed

  • South African ID
  • Proof of bank account (bank statement)
  • UI-19 form from employer
  • Salary slips (if requested)
  • Proof of termination (retrenchment letter, dismissal letter, etc.)

Check Your UIF Status

Follow these steps to check your application status on the official UIF portal:

  1. Open the UIF status page: https://uifecc.labour.gov.za/viper/case-enquiry
  2. Enter your ID number or case number.
  3. Click 'Search' to view progress updates.
  4. Follow instructions based on your application stage.

Understanding Your UIF Status

Status Meaning
Received Your UIF application has been submitted into the system.
Pending Employer Forms UI-19 or other employer documents are missing.
Processing UIF officials are checking your documents and eligibility.
Approved Your claim is approved and payment will be scheduled.
Rejected Your application does not meet UIF requirements or documents are invalid.
