How to Apply Online
- Go to the official UIF portal: https://uifecc.labour.gov.za/viper/
- Click 'Register' or 'Login' to access your UIF profile.
- Enter your ID number and personal details.
- Complete employment history and confirm your employer details.
- Upload required documents such as UI-19 and ID copy.
- Select benefit type: Unemployment, Maternity, Illness, Adoption, or Reduced Work Time.
- Submit your application and wait for SMS confirmation.
Requirements
- Valid South African ID number
- You must have contributed to UIF while employed
- Must be unemployed, on maternity leave, sick leave, or reduced work hours
- Bank account in your name for payments
- Mobile number for communication
Documents Needed
- South African ID
- Proof of bank account (bank statement)
- UI-19 form from employer
- Salary slips (if requested)
- Proof of termination (retrenchment letter, dismissal letter, etc.)

Check Your UIF Status
Follow these steps to check your application status on the official UIF portal:
- Open the UIF status page: https://uifecc.labour.gov.za/viper/case-enquiry
- Enter your ID number or case number.
- Click 'Search' to view progress updates.
- Follow instructions based on your application stage.
Understanding Your UIF Status
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Received | Your UIF application has been submitted into the system. |
| Pending Employer Forms | UI-19 or other employer documents are missing. |
| Processing | UIF officials are checking your documents and eligibility. |
| Approved | Your claim is approved and payment will be scheduled. |
| Rejected | Your application does not meet UIF requirements or documents are invalid. |
