A physician, also known as a medical doctor, is a healthcare professional who is trained and licensed to diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries. They are trained to provide medical care to individuals and families, and are responsible for managing and coordinating the overall healthcare of their patients.
Physicians typically complete a four-year undergraduate degree, followed by four years of medical school and a period of supervised clinical training, known as a residency. After completing their training, physicians must pass a licensing exam in order to practice medicine. Some physicians choose to specialize in a particular area of medicine, such as internal medicine, pediatrics, or surgery, and may complete additional training in their area of specialization. In addition to diagnosing and treating patients, physicians also play a crucial role in preventing illness through preventive care and education.
