The Netflix First Nations Scholarships are awarded on the basis of creative excellence. The scholarships are intended to assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students with the full cost of course fees, plus contribution toward travel, accommodation, and living expenses.
The bursary is designed to provide financial assistance through full scholarships at partner higher educational institutions in South Africa to support the formal qualification and training of aspiring Black creatives in the film and TV disciplines.
The Netflix bursary strongly encourages applicants from the following disciplines:
- Master of Arts Screen: Cinematography
- Master of Arts Screen: Documentary
- Master of Arts Screen: Editing
- Master of Arts Screen: Production Design
- Master of Arts Screen: Sound Design
This scholarship is made available via the NETFLIX Indigenous Scholarship Fund. The amount of support varies depending on the course that the student is enrolled in and their study load.
The Scholarships for the Master of Arts: Screen covers full course fees and contribution towards travel, accommodation, and living allowance.
The Scholarship for the Master of Arts: Screen Business covers full course fees over one year full-time plus contribution towards travel, accommodation, and living allowance.
Payments are made each semester in equal installments. Payments are conditional on the recipient remaining enrolled, in good academic standing, and continuing to meet the eligibility criteria and other conditions.
